it has to be one of the worst smells ever, any else agree? disagree? how can that be anything good for a tank?

I agree it stinks. But that is why it works so well. It is 100% conditioner rather than the other diluted less smelling brands. I have to use it, there is no way I could replace water ina 700 gallon using a conditioner at a capful per 10 gallons.

The dechlorinating compound in Prime is Sodium Thiosulfate (also spelled "Thiosulphate") Key terms being the "sulphate/sulfate" part. This means it has sulfur in it, and as we all know, that's the "rotten egg smell." Farts, poop, rotten egg smell = Sulfur.

You haven't been around it long enough

if you add it quickly you dont really smell it but for a second or two. dont leave the bottle open sitting on the counter either. cap it as soon as your done and you shouldnt have any issues. lol it does stink but there are ways to get around it.

Crap, now I have to smell it when I get home. I've always just poured and dumped...I never took the time to sniff it :) lol

Not as bad s Hydrogen Sulphide............now that WAS bad..........and so easy to make when I was a kid, one test tube of that woul go a long long way! hehehehe

I disagree. It's not the worst smell ever. If you ever had missing dead fish hidden in the house that you couldn't find, man that sticks like hell.

When I had like 20 bichirs in a tank and a few of them would jump out and decompose behind the tank, and I would only notice the smell and thought I must have some dead rats in the house but couldn't find any rat.....
