I've just switched to "Seachem Prime" water conditioner because it removes CHLORINE, CHLORAMINE & traces of HEAVY METALS. Oh & of course the concetration factor. Now only one or two other water conditioners do all that :headbang2

I am not sure what smell are you alarmed about, but I'll have a sniff when I get home :screwy:
I use a dropper to measure Prime & dump it in the new water. Done in a couple of seconds.

1) Kent Marine Pro Dechlorinator does it, too :D

The Kent dechlorinator is for fresh, too? I have always used Prime because it's the most cost effective. I'll have to compare prices with the Kent stuff and see who wins.

MarineDepot:
Kent Pro Dechlorinator: 16 oz (473 ml) $8.99
Seachem Prime: 16.9 oz (500 ml) $11.89

--> Kent:nutkick: Prime

Here is a link to a table on "Review - Water Conditioners & Dechlorinators" if any of you are interested:popcorn:

That lists an outdated version of Kent...

It's a dollar an ounce for Prime around here. Those are the best prices I've ever seen.

1) I've never wrote "Kent Pro Dechlorinator" can't do what " Seachem Prime" can
2) Not everyone has the space or the $$$ to have large tanks.

3) I can't even buy "Kent Pro Dechlorinator" here, but I can buy Prime cheap
which rocks:headbang2
4) Where is your up to date link to a "water conditioner comparison table" ey?

Howdy,

There appears to be some turmoil regarding my previous post. Sorry to bring it back up, but this is something dear to my heart: Please remember:

The MonsterAquariaNetwork (MAN) provides an all-inclusive home for truly everyone with whatever interest or experience level one might have in our wet hobby.

You just have to find your niche: MAN is segmented into three main forums, one of which is MFK, another one is AquariaCentral, the third one being Aquatic-Photography. As mentioned in our mission statement, MFK is
a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. The majority of our fish collections include RARE & EXOTIC Species of all sizes, BIG FISH with BIG APPETITES and BIG TANKS.

In comparison, when you visit AquariaCentral,
You will be entering into a wonderful world of aquatic information, for all aquarists, no matter what their experience level.

Forum affiliation is not exclusively based on what tank you have, but it's a state of mind. You're either /\/\onster, or you're not. The dividing line is very clear. Don't get me wrong, I, too, have 10 gal tanks at home, and I, too, am a member on AquariaCentral. I am not sure how referring someone to AC can be taken as provocation.

Sorry the truth is not touchy-feely enough, but if you dose prime with a dropper, and you post that on this board, then you make people chuckle. Like it or not. One drop (50 uL) treats 1/2 gal of water. In reality, many people here use it by the pint for their /\/\onstertank set-ups. Matter of fact, some buy it in 5 gal canisters. In that context, a dropper really, truly is funny. For whoever still doesn't see that humor, my recommendation is to either develop a sense of /\/\onster, or visit AquariaCentral, where you will be amongst like-minded Primedrippers.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Or both. Sometime I go by multiple capfuls for my bigger tanks and my smaller tanks I use a dropper for. Just because a person has a huge tank doesn't mean they lose interest in smaller species. Sure, I have a 125 gallon tank with some big cats and a wild Oscar, but I've got plenty of small tanks downstairs for my betta breeding and other fun, too.

One of the local fish stores has got water changes figured out. He will drain several tanks down at once. He then walks down the row of tanks with a gallon bucket of Prime in one hand and an eyedropper in another hand. One squeeze on the eyedropper = treatment for 10 gallons of water. Once he doses several tanks, he clicks on his remote which switches valves and pumps and the tanks refill.

Trust me, "squeeze, squirt, squeeze, squirt" is much faster and more accurate than "fill cap, dump, fill cap, dribble, swear, shake nasty smelling stuff on hands, fill cap, dump".

I seriously doubt our fellow MFK member is counting drops :)

I think the word is "ironic comedy." I get it.
