WHY HAVE MY CICHLIDS GONE SCARED??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
all my levels were zero as of the last testing on wednesday, but i'll make sure to check again when I get home, otherwise I have no clue, I'm kinda hoping this is just a phase, because it's not very cool to have fish hide everytime you go to look at them

If all you levels are zero, you just put the water in the tank.

A stable tank will have some level of nitrate (which is harmless at low levels). Check again or get a second opinion from your LFS.

maybe its the love smell in the bedroom, perhaps they are secretly video taping....j/k hope everythings ok with them

my bad, what I meant was that my ammonia and nitrite levels were at zero, my nitrate level is about 26ppm, the water temp is about 78 degrees, there is a jag, oscar, 2 jd, 2 firemouths, a gt, and a pleco in the tank at the moment, they are all juveniles ranging from 1-3 inches(most on the smaller side) in a 55g, the tank dimensions are 48 1/4" x 12 3/4" x 21", I hope that this info helps

what do you mean by aerosols, cuz there's never been any air fresheners or any thing used in the room

I think he meant air fresheners / hair sprays / perfumes / cleaners / etc (I'm guessing he was directing the aerosol comment at your girl :D )

edit: You mentioned it used to eat out of your hands...are they well washed/rinsed? Could maybe he leftover soap/etc on your hands thats gotten into the tank, or maybe cologne on your wrist...just a thought. I don't know what would/could cause it.

I have had the same problem recently with spooked fish. My nitrates literally are at 0, I have a 240 that does not seem interested in cycling :(.

Maybe there is something wrong with my test kit, I'll do a water change.
