Why haven't Coldwater species have been popularized yet?

This thread was a great way to view politics in a way. A noble discussion turned to fighting over who's opinion is better... *Edit, and it really doesn't matter all that much when you get down to it.

Interesting thread that I've somehow missed until now.I'm just chiming in here and did not read from the beginning but did anyone bring up the various laws in the different states regarding the collection of these fish?...They could also be a reason for native fish not being as popular as they could be in hobby.
especially with bait & invasive species regulations. Bait dumps is a concern for us and many native transports are highly invasives such as red shiners and redbelly daces. If the natives are sold at pet store like goldfish, we would have destroyed most waterways by then.
 
I have an idea but what exactly is bait dump?

You do know rosy-red feeder minnows are just a color variant of the fat head minnow, and are pretty much in EVERY lfs and chain store.C73-1.jpg

and they are not native to many waterways. Thank god, bright orange fishes usually won't last longer in the wild.
