Copper sulfate is a fungicide used to control bacterial and fungal diseases of fruit, vegetable, nut and field crops. Some of the diseases that are controlled by this fungicide include mildew, leaf spots, blights and apple scab. It is used in combination with lime and water as a protective fungicide, referred to as Bordeaux mixture, for leaf application and seed treatment. It is also used as an algaecide, an herbicide in irrigation and municipal water treatment systems, and as a molluscicide, a material used to repel and kill slugs and snails. Copper sulfate is a naturally-occurring inorganic salt and copper is an essential trace element in plant and animal nutrition (5, 6, 7, 13, 16). It is available in the following formulations: dusts, wettable powders, and fluid concentrates (17).

I dont use any fish food that contains corn meal or fish meal or.... double processed horse head meal. And why so many brands of fish food use corn meal is beyond me, when corn is indigestable to fish.

Hikari Ingredients:

White fish meal, wheat flour, wheat-germ meal, brewers' dried yeast, soybean meal, dehydrated alfalfa meal, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin A supplement, l-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), vitamin B12 supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, choline chloride, D activated animal sterol (source of vitamin D3), folic acid, menadione sodium bisulfite (source of vitamin K activity), inositol, para-aminobenzoic acid, zinc oxide, manganous oxide, salt, ferrous chloride, copper sulfate, cobalt sulfate, aluminum sulfate, magnesium sulfate.

There are much worse products out there than Hikari. Like Wardley. Wardly is horrible. Thats one kind that does use Corn meal.

I only use Omega One fish food.
Everything in it is WHOLE.

WHOLE salmon, herring, shrimp, and other seafood ingredients

They use fresh, cold water marine proteins and kelp, as ingredients, instead of fishmeal and a whole lot of starch (like everyone else)

I agree, but I feed Omega and Hikari. I think that Omega does have the best ingredients.

It's all about the dose ... which is not given on the package, and which, I am sure, is a secret.

I am not that involved with Hikari. Other companies (e.g. Tetra) do not need to add copper sulfate, and all these years I have been using Tetra, my fish were in perfect health. Obviously, the addition of copper sulfate is not necessary if the fish food is processed/prepared right ... I don't need to ask Hikari about it, I can just stay away from the respective products.
Honestly, you read my conspiracy theory above. Even if I was right, they would never admit it ...

The only reason why I brought this up is to raise awareness and to discuss it with people who have no commercial interest in Hikari, who just want the best for their fish.
