Why Is Bichir so addicting

I disagree about bichirs aren't too expensive. They're not crazy expensive but aren't the cheapest either. Some specy of bichir could run into the thousand. It kind of depend which specy of bichirs you're trying to acquire. To me I don't think bichirs are socialable like other fish but they're cool looking.
 
I was into dinosaurs and only collect toys of them when I was a kid. I knew nothing about bichirs back then till I saw some pics from AP and read about them. Later I saw a ropefish in my LFS and bought my first polypteridae.

So it's their primitive look that made me think bichirs are cool. I can't have a real dinosaurs or play with my dinosaurs toys anymore, so I got bichirs instead and also other primitive fish.
 
I think bichirs look pretty cool and would maby consider getting 1 if it fit in a 55gal? Also is a bichir anything like a violet goby, because my local walmart just got them in as a new fish and the fish girl (that i talk to a lot) told me i should get 1
 
Why are Bichirs so addictive?

For me it starts with how they look, Primitive, robust and unique.

Personality wise I find them fasinating as each of mine is different.

Size wise, they allow me to be able to keep a 20" fish in a reasonably sized tank.

Compatibility-Try and keep several large cichlids together without bloodshed, wheras with poly's you get the every popular bichir pile.

Finally I LOVE the reaction of when I have people over and they see my tank for the first time, universally the reaction is of awe over the poly's.
