I could see how marijuana/medical marijuana dispensaries are sometimes necessary for medical use. The only problem is, people abuse it too. I think it will be scary to see it being legalized since it also has many negative effects on our brains, lungs, heart etc.

It impairs our thinking and destroys our brain cells, just to name a few. Imagine if all of us were high on pot? LOL who's gona take the lead? LOL

There are also many other ways to relieve different kinds of pain aside from smoking pot. It just bothers me when I get a patient who admits to smoking everyday to relieve such things as headaches? Anxiety?

What is California Proposition 65?
Proposition 65 is a California law that has been in effect since 1986 to promote clean drinking water and keep toxic substances that cause cancer and birth defects out of consumer products. Proposition 65's formal title is "The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986." It is administered by Cal/EPA's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA).

Proposition 65 regulates substances listed by California as causing cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm in two ways. The first regulatory arm of Proposition 65 prohibits businesses from knowingly discharging listed substances into drinking water sources, or onto land where the substances can pass into drinking water sources. It statistically has no damaging effect on lungs. Safer than aspirin has no effect on heart at all. May even help prevent cancer.
Like I said safer than Aspirin.

BACK ON TRACK! Given the recent studies showing the amount of caffeine, birth control, and recreational drugs in our waterways, can we really blame California for trying to keep a compound toxic to humans out of watersheds?

In some areas, spontaneous sex changes occur in frogs and fish due to the amount of hormones we take to regulate our bodies... And not all American sewage treatment is up to par, definitely not enough to remove harmful compounds, only the bacteria that manufacture them.

It's only a matter of time before groundwater supplies become highly contaminated, thank god I live in the Northeastern U.S., where (cold)water is FREE!
