Would someone like to donate any to me? I'm in socal, and can't seem to find any in the LFS near by.

I'll gladly pay you.

Sounds like it would be a sale then :naughty: I'm in the same boat, I went to like 5 different LFSs and no one had it. I'm in NJ and I'll pay for some as well... Must be easy to ship since it's so resilient...

well I have a small Freshwater pet shop, If i could get someone to get me some, i will dedicate a 100gal tank to it and give the stuff away on here, if people are willing to pay the shipping! But first i need some Java Moss to get started with... I have 2 distributors looking for it right now, with no luck.... and i have found it online, but i own a store and not really willing to pay retail for a small piece... But if i cant find some thats exactly what i am going to do!

My local LFS has it in but that's because I asked them to order it..... its $5 for golf ball sized or smaller :)

Golf ball size is too much for a lot of smaller tanks... break it in half and save the rest for another tank. I grew a jungle of the stuff in my 56g wide with a ball about the size of a quarter. The fish like it, but it gets a bit ridiculous trying to keep it under control.

Keep your hedgeclippers handy.

Every Petco I've ever been to sells the coconut husks with java moss already attached for like 10 bux. Just cut the fishing line to remove it all or "mow the lawn" with some scissors & tie the trimmings to whatever you want to cover. Kinda pricey, as mentioned before, but you only buy it once in a lifetime!

I got a free tuft from my LFS and it's now the size of a basketball in my 125g, floating freely. Good stuff. Really durable and not ugly, for the most part.

I'm coating all the driftwood in all my tanks with it. Like 13 pieces. I'm not even close to being done yet. I've also made a few styrofoam moss balls & have a 6x6inch lawn square thats slowly growing in the bottom of my sump. I really like the moss, so I find places for it...

would it grow faster than than my silver dollars would eat it? Was going to get some for my new small tank but would like to put some in the big tank too.
