It was doing great and getting better by the day...more outgoing, etc. I wasn't home Saturday through the day and I was dealing with my azul so I didn't notice, but it appears that the balas have been picking on it judging by the appearance of the fins  And it looks like it's sluffing it's slime coat. Is that what I'm seeing? Please help...I'm about to lose it..first the azul and now my armatus. BTW, I did add salt to the tank and took the balas out...hope the p-bass don't beat them up like the new azul.

Dang Paul, one thing after another:(

Maybe the Balas were eating off the slimecoat. It is definitely a good thing that you removed them.

How is the Armatus acting?

any plecos in the tank?

kinda looks like an infection of some type...

I was going to ask that. Sneaky plecos! Good luck

nope, no plecos, just balas

you can see the discoloration, but it doesn't look like actual skin is coming off...

now it's got a few spots of ick :irked: and I think my female festae (in another tank) has some, too

WTF??????

Dang dude! I have unfortunately treated Ich many, many times. I actually just had to treat my two new bass for it. For the Festae, I would add 3 tablespoons for every 5 gallons of water and turn the tank temp up to 84. It is unneccessary to do a water change. Don't do a water change until 3 days after the signs of ich are gone.

For the Armatus, I would probably add less salt, like 2 tablespoons for every 5 gallons because of his slime coat.

ive used salt w all my payara alot...

i would do 4 lbs of salt per 100 gallons within 2 days... do a 25% waterchange every day, replacing the salt every time. this is wht i do and it works every time.

alright, thanks. I'll put some more salt in.

and sorry for the "It's" instead of "Its"....I hate errors like that, lol.

agree. Did you use a net when you put the armatus in the tank?? This looks just like what happen to one of my tats. It was trashing all over when I netted it and three days later this happened. I treated it withy melafix
