Could be deformed; a genetic birth defect. But more then likely it is the result of some previous injury. The tail could have been bitten by another fish (or tail rot) and did not grow back properly. Especially when a tail is bitten right into the flesh, it is quite likely to grow back in an odd shape. One can see in the picture that the fin rays are bent lin the tail --- IMO,quite likely the result of growing back oddly after some kind of serious tail injury.

Great... I raised this guy for 7 months and he's deformed.

I don't need that man. I'm trying to grow a world class Convict.

Dropping this guy off at the LFS tomorrow.

HAHAHA A show convict? Good luck, they are so inbred/crossbred that there really is nothing world class about convicts anymore...

I dont mean to have a dig... but why?

Convicts - common as muck, your not exactly going to be winning shows with em.

But, either way - to me, theres something wrong with the fish. Looks unhappy, and honestly, quite underfed.

Heres a healthy convict for comparison.

The fish does look fairly emaciated. It's possible that it has some sort of internal parasite?
