Not all fish will react the same, even when under the exact same conditions.

So what's the best thing for me to do? I have a 10g and a bunch of different kinds of medication I could treat him with.

Add 1/2-1 teaspoon of kosher salt, it generally helps with osmoregulation.

I wouldn't know, I've never looked at or used pharmaceutical salt.
Just use sodium chloride sans the anti-caking additives etc. Kosher/pickling salt is dirt cheap, so that's what I typically use when required.

Well it's pharmaceutical "Fish" salt and it says it helps cure FW and Saltwater fish diseases and help get rid of stress.

i don't know if it would last days, but a lack of acclimation is known to cause deep breathing...

ya but there are so many ways to acclimate, i've used a bunch of ways and never saw a difference in the fish, except one time to revive a fish.

OP- keep us updated on how he is doing.

Ok so I put him in the 10g last night with a rock for him to hide in and I just checked him again and the breathing has not seemed to slow down after I added a Teaspoon of that salt. But that website says it may take 2-3 weeks for it to completely be cured.
