Why is my Tiger Shovelnose Growing so slow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
he was in a 55gal for a long while about 2 months with no growth at all. then my mom decided she wanted to put some small african cichlids in their so i had to move him. im feeling a little better now, hes started eating feeder goldfishn today, fish which are half his size. I took a rainbow shark my mom had that had been picking on her cichlids and put him in my large catfish tank. if he survives for 2 weeks then im gunna put my TSN in there to grow, im just afraid they might eat him right now.

well even though it's in a small tank it doesn't really matter at that size... the key to it gaining size is having "CLEAN" water... when you have a small tank this means doing far more water changes (Speaking from personal experience... check the sig) Changing out only 4 gallons a week isn't good enough... Why is it that no one here with big cats has picked up on this... :irked: Growth needs 2 things... good food (Check) and good water (20% on a 20 gallon 1 time a week isn't good enough by far) do that every other day, give it a month to get it's metobolic rate sorted and you'll see an EXPLOSION of growth

i have two tsc both about 20" i had them at 2" there were alot of times when i thought they wernt growing but they obviously were.My fish are fed mainly on prawns and white fish .They have 2 large feeds a week they were in a 150 gal tank but now live in a 2000 gal.Not sure if ur doing it already but my advise would be to feed them untill they have huge bellys let them return to normal then repeat.
good luck
