An Aba Aba will develope a very distinct personality and recognize the owner. Mine hides from everyone but when I am alone in the fish room he watches me the whole time. If someone else feeds him he will hide and eat when they leave. He begs for food like a dog with me. He also patrols the tank like a shark. I agree with previous posters in the fact that it looks cool how effortlessly they glide through the water, either foreward or backward quickly.

I became more involved with Oddball species once I purchased my first Knifefish species, the African Knife. Very common to come across, yet so different. Everything from its swimming motion to it's behavior towards tank-mates, food, etc. just seemed so interesting to me. Even if it meant waiting until night to observe the behaviors of the fish; it was just part of the fun, lol. And with every different species that I would come across, new behaviors would be observed. Both )v(onsters and community fish.
I love the calm personality of them. Many kinds of fish will mindlessly ram their faces on the front glass when they see anything, but knifefish interact further than that. I love the deliberateness of everything they do as well.
Not to mention, the most specialized fish such are by far the most interesting.
