Why Knives?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've never been a super big fan of knives, but.........

I think the passive/aggressive attitude they have is very interesting. They hold their own without being super aggressive.

how could someone think a knifefish is boring they are pretty much awesome

My BGK, maybe because it has been raised with cichlids, is not shy at all. Free roams whenever it wants, grazes on shrimp pellets side by side with my geo and catfish, has the occasional squabble with a fish. It was shy when young (about 3") but he is at least 6" now and full of spunk. Plus like others have said, their swim pattern/style adds a cool element to the tank.

My clown knife is definately not boring! Always swimming around (even during the day) and isn't skittish or shy at all. And when I drop silversides or frozen krill in the tank, he attacks it like a pitbull! Shaking his head side to side, ripping it apart so he can stuff more food down it's throat. Plus there's the "What the heck it that?!?":WHOA: from non-fish keepers.

Here's a pic of him stuffing his face with krill...

I couldn't ever find Knife's close to being boring, explains why I just got one last year ago, and he's already amusing to watch, I call him Spook....can't find him when the lights out, all i see is glowing eyes staring at me. He hides in very unusual places aswell, and he loves Frozen-Brineshrimp, Frozen-Bloodworms & also Carnivore Pellets.

my black ghost knives are one of the coolest fish from the exotic/oddball varieties. the swim front, back and even side by side. then can be teach to be handfed, and especially i like their color black.

personally I like their personalities
