I am not sure of that. Live or frozen in a closed environment takes a heavier toil on water, imho, than pellets. And our tanks are no rivers or lakes unfortunately.
pellets are just low grade food any fish will look better and live longer with frozen or live foods that they naturally eat in the wild.
I use a mixture of freeze dried foods(earthworms, bloodworms, mysis shrimp, krill), veggies(zuchinni, carrots, leafy greens) and pellets(NLS thera A, Massavor, Hikari and NLS algae wafers)...
My fish eats everything, but bloodworms and krill are their favorites.
