One of my first LFS memories was from 1975 or so. I recall seeing the 125-gallon display tank and thinking, "What a HUGE tank!!!" That tank included a two-foot silver arowana, some CA/SA cichlids, and two 8-10" widebar dats that were selling for an outrageous $17 each!

My 1st big aro tank was a slate-bottom Metaframe 125 that required retarring of the slate seal anually. Fun times... slate bottoms and stick ball. And don't forget the metal-housed open-stator Dynaflo filter and the 600gph metal-housed Supreme Aqua-king HOB filter. Don't you just miss the old 5 offset U-tubed angel-hair floss-filled power filters?

I had a stainless steel framed 55 gallon that I thought was HUGE!

I still have one of them i keep for a souvenir. It is a ten gallon and has the slate bottom and metal frame!
