My aro ended up being put in my tank by a friend. Then I had to move into the middle of the remote high mountains in the middle of winter. Of course, What went with me fit in my Toyota 4x4, animals all in the cab including 5 cats and my silver and his pals in a rubbermaid tote. We followed ten snowplows through a blizzard but my Aro has the heart of a Lion. He took it like a champ. I watch my aquarium not my TV.
Aro's have been around a lot longer than we have. They are so free spirited, not tameable, not controllable, but graciously recieve all that we do to care for them. Mine has provided my with friendship, he plays with me, he has a whole bag of tricks to get in trouble, he's a HAM by choice. He isn't a trained circus animal. He is a wild, free creature that I wish could be still wild, but that isn't an option.
I try to recreate to biggest, best, most fascinating habitat for him. I want to see if the tanks are big enough, and I do all I can, him to grow huge and feel as free as he can in captivity. I'm going for the biggest monster aro ever. He is so beautiful, it just looks like liquid platinum when he moves. His grace then suddenly the unleashed power inside of him will show it's side and it's fascinating. Generally, only very domesticated animals are legal.
This is a glimpse into a world that is unknown to so many people. My tank is set up for show, it commands the center of all attention in true feng shui fashion. But that isn't why people walk into my house and just stop and stare, and are mesmerized. My aro does that all on his own. I woke up at 3 am the other night and a friend who had stayed the night on the couch due to party overload, was sitting on the floor, 2 ft from my Aquarium just staring, for over and hour. Captivated.
I have a passion for these creatures because they deserve it. They have survived and evolved. come on! Why can something with no opposing thumbs strike it so well with humans????And I have so much $$$$$ into the beast that I have no choice!!
wOw.
