This morning i wake up...go downstairs to check my Channa Bleheri (2.5'')... I find him 30 feet away from tank, all dried up. I put him back in the tank, and it seemed he was slowly restoring himself but it was hopeless....Don't understand what made him jump he was the only fish in the tank ...very well fed and i had just got the temp of the water up to 79 when it was previously 72 two days ago.

Why? Because you didn't cover your tank.

I used to keep them too, in a tank in my room. The first night I got the first one, I keep hearing it hit against the acrylic cover.

You gotta cover all your tanks as most fishes will jump when spooked or see some "prey". Some fishes jump for no reason though.

My condolences. C'mon, get another one. They are great fishes!

Snakeheads are air breathers-they can survive out of water for a time as long as the area is wet i.e. they can leave the water course they are in on a rainy or heavy dew night and look for pastures new.This ability seems to be conected to jumping to get up the bank.He was only doing what comes natural to a snakehead.This ability to migrate is the main reason they are banned in so many areas,eventually they will populate all areas of water.

i think ur right dude....i retire...i have a true wolf in one tank and just moved a red tail wolf to the newly vaccant tank....if they die i'm done

sorry man, I didn't mean to be harsh - maybe you've just had some bad luck. I think fish are relatively easy to take care of, but you have to be very careful about everything - that includes diet, temp, no gaps in hood etc

COVER THE TANK, you're fine, humans learn from their mistakes, even dogs do sometimes, don't let a small mistake set you back

Hey, fishes come and go. Don't worry too much about fishes which died, and focus on those which are alive.

Wolves will be hardy, and they aren't too sensitive to their water. Just avoid the extremes, keep the water parameter constant, COVER the tank, and they'll be pretty fine!
