why

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well for me my aros were ok but not great

if you think they were great what justifies a 20k aro over my 2k aros

this was a 2.5k aro again what makes a 20k aro better over this certed 24k aro

2 weeks after being placed in non white tank you can see the shine levels starting to drop

Beautiful aros you have/had. The pic above shows Real GOLD of XB & not a COPPER of HBRTG.:WHOA:

i hope you can see my point the aro in the last pics above cost us$2.5k

when i look at aros for sale for 10-20k i just cant justify that money when a 2.5k aro look near the same granted this aro is not full helmet

but is it worth another 8k just for gold helmet which may fade after the aro has been put into a normal non white tank

Right, as I agreed to your views earlier in this thread regarding your point.
Just complimented for beautiful color of your fish, I have one junior COPPER in the making myself.:grinno:

its a animal that can look much better if the seller places it in a white tank to add profit to the fish

this is the whole point of this thread are we being ripped off with aros that are placed in white tanks just to increase the profits

we have no idea who how the fish has been kept the farm may have kept the aro in white tank from birth making the shine levels higher the seller may not even know how the fish has been grown

many things the farms may have done we don't know about reds may have been fed colour enhancers gold may have been kept in white tanks with the kind of money involved who knows whats happened

some people would rip you off with a 20k car

with a 20k aro the farms have a lot more get outs like give it time it maybe food lighting or water conditions

Very true, then it all comes down to trust. Thats just how business is done I guess. But I mean, if we had a low quality MG and a high quality MG both in the same white tank, you would still see a difference. Either way, even if they were really "enhanced" through this white tank therapy, a higher grade MG will still look better than a lower grade MG. Theres really no real way to tell whether a farm used colour ehancers or hormone injections right on the spot. Fish with those usually have faded colours later on and it becomes really obvious. It's the same thing with rays. Everyone says H20 has the best CB black rays. But how do I know that? How do I know mike doesn't go pumping his tanks with hormone enhancers. What makes his "high quality" 2k leos better than these 1.5k leos down at my LFS.

i am quite curious how the term white tank treatment came from ,i read that fish uses chromatophore for camoflage , but what treatment does the white tank do?

It was already said, just like you go to a dealer to buy a car. Aren't those car clean, shiny, and smell good? I love those "new car" smell! But once I bought it, the smell will be gone in a month or two, and I can't find any air fresher with the same smell. I also need to spend 40-50 bux weekly to wash or detail the car, or it look dirty and ugly. Does it mean I got rip off? My sister bought a C300 Mercedes. I had a ride, and it's comfortable like the SL600 that my friend had. Did she got rip off?
There's WTT for gold, and tanning and black water distract for red arowana. It's not a secret. It's only up to you on whether you want to put yourself thru the hassle of doing all that work, or just enjoy a fish that you were happily picked out?

The problem with arowana is, the farm are all just too new, just 20 years you cant even make 10 generations, unlike dogs which has more than 20 generations down the line the trait are quite stable to get a predictable pedigree gene.

Many farm when they start out collect arowana from everywhere, and try to produce high shine, the mixture of blood is too great. Same problem with red. Hence they themselfs cant predict the outcome.

Another problem is in the pond you've mixture of all type of crossbreed XB, you wont know the male sex with which female thats another problem.

Discus or dogs you can control the sexing part critically.

So in the end god knows whats the outcome.
