Man, think about it, if you were trying to sell something, you'd want to make the item you're selling look as apealling AS POSSIBLE. I dont think you walk into car dealers looking at cars while the lights are dim and half the light bulbs are burnt out. Every freaking car dealer i've been to has REALLY bright lighting with their BEST car in the most spotlight, why? Becuase they want you to see really how good it looks. I dont think you would buy a brand new car and then come back to complain that your new car looks dull in your dim garage. Or when you buy a used tank, obviously the seller tries to clean the tank as much as he can to make it look like its in the best condition it could possibly be in. It's not scamming or anything, neither is it being dishonest. The real issue here is, you think every x-back should be EXACTLY the same and that 2k xbacks should turn out like 20k xbacks. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. You're basically saying an altima will perform like a GTR. Look at RD's gold, the shine has obviously reached 6th level, but thats almost a given, but his gold doesnt fully cross onto the back. Just becuase it doesnt fully cross onto the back, doesn't mean its not an xback. It's reached 6th level, period, the farm has done its duty.

Agree with what you said, but something do bothers me really, Xback are marketing term, if the fish doesnt cross we as customer should have our rights to have them compensate to us.

Thats why you see the lower end crossback are only label as malaysian golden, no XB is ever mention.

They should write possible to be a crossback:ROFL:

Whether or not my Xb will ever fully cross I don't know. Its not likely but he gets more and more gold on the 6th level every month. I believe I got good quality for money spent. He's exceeded his potential IMHO. There are way better XB's out there but at what cost?

I like the yellow gold much better than the washed out white gold in the beginning.

If you buy a XB showing full crossing it will be a fully crossed aro. Mine had very little gold on the 6th level but now has more than anticipated. If I were to buy another one I'd look for one with more gold on the sixth level. Not necessarily fully crossed ,because I know now they can exceed expectation, but more gold on the sixth level especially closer to the head. Pearlies and finnage are also important.

You can, most likely get a XB, fully crossed for 3k-10k. IMHO 30k puts you into the more money than brains club.

your aros are ok but not great

still no better than HBRTG as far as shine levels go by thinking it will cross is a dream it will never happen on a cheap xback

wait another 1-2 years and then you will be thinking this aro is not turning out the way i hoped

i have had many aros of that standard

Could you post a picture of any certificate that says crossback on it? Like you said, xback is the market term. It's not the official term to category arowana.

You sure had many nice arowanas , yet you let the others to tell you otherwise! :grinno: I can see you had nice MGs in that pic.

i can show you loads of aros i have owned in the past some may say great looking fish but unless it crosses its not a crossback

i have had aros with high shine but no pearls

if the aro has no pearls like most of the 2k cross backs chances are it will never cross

by tagging a fish as crossback and it doesnt cross for me thats not a crossback

If it's not going to cross, then why call it a crossback?

I've learned lots in this thread. :) Eyes wide open from here on in. ;)

Crossback is called by the people, market term. It's Malaysian Gold ;) Besides, some aros look like not crossing, however, there are specks of gold on the top/back scales, which may only be seen in person ;)

Okay, just for everyones sake, lets review what the true term "crossing" really means, CROSSING IS WHEN THE SHINE REACHES LEVEL 6 OR ABOVE. ONCE ITS REACHED LEVEL 6 IT HAS ALREADY CROSSED. Does everyone get it now? T1? Basically, if you get a 2k gold, it WILL cross, HOW MUCH it crosses is a different issue. And seriously, if you can't tell the difference between a HBRTG and a gold, THEN DONT GET A GOLD, GET AN HBRTG.
