its the farms who tag and cert the aro not the seller

so by tagging a aro as super grade blue base xback or 24k xback its the farms who have given the fish that name to try to boost sales and make people think its a top fish with a top name

what would a $20k aro have on its cert from the same farm

Did you scan to make sure the tag ID and the Cert ID match? I've seen several Cert in the past, and farm doesn't really put the grade of the fish on the Cert. They only put the name of the fish. Care to post a pix of that 24K Cert? Plus, when your LFS ordered ten fish, they get 10 Certs, and I don't expect they scan to match each Cert to each fish ;)

they are gorgeous fish, but i don't think any fish is worth that much, even if i were filthy rich.

Hobby is someone's desire. It's about pleasure, not about money! :grinno:

yes you can scan as i have a scanner

i dont want to post the cert as it will show which farm the 24k was from

when aros are shipped to the UK we get pictures of the fish and the tag number before they are exported

the aro looked great at 8inch but once it got to 12inch shine level dropped

you are saying that chances are low of a $2k aro turnning out nice but $2k is still a lot of money to spend on a fish you would expect something better for that kind of money

T1, how many times have you said "just another name to make more money" or something along those lines. You've scoffed at people that buy "royal marble motoros" "classic leos" "panda gold supremes" etc. This is the same situation just a different fish. Surely you of all people should know its a game to make money.

You want your xback? Spend more money on an adult fish and don't waste time on small fish with funny names

If it is any help, i found that my XB color improved loads after it was put into outdoor tank where there is constant natural sunshine. ... sun does horrible things to glass tank though. i am not up to paying 10Gs for fish yet though so your question i can not answer ^^

Like I said, if you want the quality, usually, you're going to need the big bucks. Its a risk you have to take if thats the kind of fish you want.

$2K may be a lot of money to spend on a fish, but not on aro :grinno: If you think aro changes when it grow up, it's still nothing to compare with Flowerhorn :grinno:

If you can post a pic of the fish it would help, but seriously in the end we can only truly judge if the fish is worth the money is when it reached 20".

Some are slow developer, so it is quite difficult to say the fish is bad, I;ve seen an aro when it was 12" it look exactly like an RTG, shine 4th level, 0 pearlies. when the fish hit 14" onwards development started, when it hit 18" 6lvl and 100% pearlies.

I think a 60g BMW is a waste of money, but that's just me. It's the same for your fish.
The thing with the BMw, it won't turn into a skoda after 10 months. I think your problem lies more in you being in the UK. 2Gs here buys you a good fish that's 12 inches already. I mean in the UK it's a real exotic fish isn't it? Does 2Gs include the shipping? Obviously if there's no other charge then it does. How much does it cost to fly a fish overnight from Sing to the UK? You've just taken a quater off the original cost of the fish i bet. Now you've only paid 1500 for a fish. If you're dealing with a supplier in the UK you can bet they are playing the 100% mark up 50% profit game. Potentially your 2G fish could only be a 750 pound fish because of location.
