Why

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes, i agree that bad diet affects us also,i also agrre that more water is better than less water.

I just hate how my water supply has a chlorine smell to it if the pipes haven't been used in an hour.

so what would be the best way to further filter tap water for people use.

Since tap water isn't fish safe then why is it considered human safe ?

because the concentration of free chlorine residual is perfectly safe for humans but strong enough to burn fish gills. we are not fish and do not have gills.

I am not going to say more because I work in the industry (on the wastewater side) but I don't buy into the conspiracy theories about how our water is unsafe.

we have been using chlorine for the last 100 years to disinfect and flouride to prevent tooth decay for the last 40 or so.

and we live longer than any other generation so...you get the idea.

Cool so iam good because i dont breath the chlorine

Perfectly safe? How the **** is any amount of fluoride perfectly safe? Do you even know what you are saying? Maybe a safe amount of ammonia or bleach would float your boat, too.

I think I'll take Ron's experience and chemistry background over a website that has "Alchemy" listed in it's topics....plus, do my fish have nice, shiny teeth!

thanks Simon :)

ps Dad is a dentist, I have asked him for his take on the flouride issue and its the same as what scientists tell us: people that experience symptoms of flouridosis (mainly children) do NOT get it from tapwater. the concentrations are minute. literally.

they get it from swallowing toothpaste, which is super concentrated with flouride. children often swallow toothpaste while brushing..

Obviously he does know what he is saying... and has respectably educated himself from qualified sources before saying it...

Why do people so quickly jump to rude or senseless statements as opposed to asking for clarification or a more thorough explaination...

The frequency of such nonsense is why I struggle to respect MFK as much as some of the other forums...

If you can state a safe lower limit of ppm for fluoride, someone's paying you to.

Water has a high toxicity, even for humans!
They calculate toxicity by multiplying a certain amount until it's lethal.
If you'd drink 5 liters, you'd start to hallucinate and will die!
And that's a fact!

Hahaha sorry, I haven't read the rest of the thread but I just had to comment on this ... Where on Earth did you get that garbage from? When I was a drillers offsider I used to knock back 10-20 litres a day, every day... and as far as I can tell I'm still alive and kicking.
