Pictures?
There are theories out there that a fader can form back into their black coloring stage if the water is poor quality. But I have yet seen this for myself so I can't really say anything about it.

heres some pics i got today, he seems to be coloring up more than he was blackness seems to have stopped spreading and he has definately had a growth spurt!!

He's 4" right now, grown about an inch in the last few weeks, he did have some black Which nearly all went but this has come back as you can see, seems happy in himself so not too worried, will b nice when it's all gone

i think it'll go away when he gets older or he finds a female... either way, i wouldn't worry too much, he's a great looking fader either way!

I'm not a FH guy, but that is a very common Amphilophus trait. My big Labiatus started out yellow then turned almost all black then pealed to orange then back to black patches and is now soild orange adult coloration. Having said that, some do this more than others or at varying degrees until the final adult coloration is fully established. With hybirds it's diffacult to tell which species trates will manafest themselfs at different times in the grow out process. It looks very healthy and in good shape.

That is true, but I would like to point something out. There are flowerhorns out there that possess no Amphilophus trait in it(BP, KKP, Mammon etc) at all and still fades. It's something that is unexplained even as of today. ;)
