Why's my fader blacking up again??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Like I said I'm not a FH guy, I commented on the OPs fish because it clearly has a good dose of Amphilophus blood in it. As far as the FH's without Amp blood I could not or would not comment.;)

Another thing that I would like to say too, I can never say any flowerhorn of having any Amphilophus blood in it unless I know the parenting or the make up of the fish itself. After all, 90% of the faders that fades out there will have that unique orange/yellow/golden/pink/white that is always there. You can never base what the FH really contains in them by how they look as in terms of faders here in general. Unless, you know the make up or parenting of the fish itself. But I would also say that a lot of fish that fades contains BP or KKP in them. Mammon if your lucky. After all, it can never be pin pointed straight out just for any safety measure in falsely identifying them. Be very careful when identifying faders, it sets a whole different standard from any other FH. Which is why they're called golden base(not because they have a golden like color, but because of their different standard of quality vs the rest of the FH).
And keep in mind that golden base is not a strain, it's a name that is use in Indo FH show for any fish that fades. Golden base are for FH that isn't qualify for the rest of the show because its criteria just doesn't meet at all. So the Indo FH show decides to open up a "golden base" for any of those fish that fades. Which is another reason why I never call them golden base.
FYI - if you wonder where I got that "golden base" information, I got it from a former judge who has been judging FH since the birth place of the 1st Indo FH show.

Call me nuts then but I can clearly see the Amphilophus in that fish. I suspect someone with your knowledge of fish can also see the Amphilophus in it. Your paragraph was an interesting read though, thank you for sharing that.

I can see, but I will not confirm. So it's a thing that in my mind...it is a yep...its there. But yet again, nothing I can use to confirm it. I understand and see where your coming from though...;)

i am pleased to say that overnight, the little fella has lost all of the black on his face and body!!!! he seems really happy and hungry!! he still has black on his fins but i think that might be to stay as he had that when i got him from hamfist....thanks for your comments!!

He is looking GREAT Kev ! I reckon all the black will go in time. He's clearly loving how you keep and feed him. Is he getting noticeably longer too, or mainly just thickening up at the moment ?

He's definitely getting longer, he's grown about an inch I reckon, the thing I notice most is he seems to be getting alot squarer at the back and his kok is coming along great. He is a real pleasure to own, cheers pal.
