First thing, How do you even know you will get a male and female? I mean Ivan has had over 1000 datnoides at one time which displayed signs of breeding but it never occured. There of storys in Thailand of people throwing huge amounts of widebars into one pond, in the hopes of breeding them. Guess what? it never happend.
Second, What kind of tank are you going to keep them in? You know they live in quick flowing, large rivers? If you were going to try this, i say your best attempt would to recreate an actual Thai river system, a biotope of sort. Also they would require VERY clean water, i am not talking about water changes once a week. I am talking about once a day atleast, This is to stimulate them and give them fresh clean water. The ods of getting a pair are very slim. The whole breeding process of widebars is so complicated that people in there native country's cant even do it.
The only place that seems to even get large widebars on a regular basis is California but everyone out there isnt willing to ship because they all know they can find someone local to just buy it.
I wish you luck. I hope you do your homework before you even attempt breeding them.
