Wiffle balls were used over 30 years ago. As were barrel-o-monkeys, crushed lava rock, toy soldiers, etc. These were abandoned when more efficient aquaculture filter media became available.

Check out this chart of different media:

Hello; Several decades ago I would put glass marbles in the bottom of filters. They seemed to work well enough. I do not know how they will stack up to the modern stuff in terms of cost and surface area, marbles used to be relatively cheap. At least there will not be any offgassing, breaking down or other such issues from the glass.

Yeah I wasnt sure just thought i would try lol scrubbeis are my first choice im just having a little trouble finding them here now i got some a while back but the dollar store only has the stainless now but im going to go check out some more places today i was just at walmart and came across these and thought it was worth a shot but hey lesson learned you gotta try to learn;)

Hello; I have a box of pot scrubbers picked up at a Sam's club. The box says they are not for aquarium use. Does anyone know if this means they are not to be used to clean glass because of scratches or does it mean the scrubbers should not be in aquarium because of some possible toxic release?

Do they look like these? they say plastic scrubbers for countertops, dishes etc. I just look to see if they have any toxins on the label if not then I believe they are fine im learning 2:newbie:110_3606.JPG Im glad you posted that never thought of sams club hmmm have to go get me some thanks.
