We think alike.. I'm just gonna go shark finning though.. They don't have feelings so screw it..

If you have an execution day in a week..

Do you want to be crammed in a jail cell with 60 other guys who poop and pee on you while you wait? Only to be dragged through a door that's not open enough to get out of so you suffer internal organ damage..

Or would you rather just take the bullet right away and get it over with?

I think we should just eat the meek..

Jesus man, you think cows get any better treatment ?

The focus needs to shift from Dogs and Cats to ALL LIVESTOCK. if you're complaining how livestock in general is kept, i'll accept that, but if it's just because of the type of animal, sorry. But I wont accept that as a valid opinion / thought.

OMG i have never seen something so digusting in my entire life. I understand that everyone has their own culture but the way these animals are raised and taken care of before being sold is just inhumane.wether its a dog, cat,or bird they are all being taken care of so poorly. That place is just one big desiese then they all decide to come over to the U.S or Canada and give it to us. Even a freakin cow isnt in one tiny crate half dead and not an inch to move. I just dont understand how that is allowed and just seeing that makes me proud to be Canadian!

I don't think any animal should be kept that way.. It wasn't so much that they eat cats and dogs.. as the way they're handled. And arguing that some animals do have emotion/feelings.

But also there's a difference between the intelligence and thought process of these three animals:

Chicken
Cow
Dog

It's all ethics. And culture. I respect anyone's right to eat what they want. But if I'm to be a person who has no problem with anyone eating any animal no matter it's intellegence or place in the food chain.. then we have excess "meat" at all the jails in the u.s... a carnivore's dream.. fire up your bbq..

and to that i say, doesnt it seem wrong to decide how an animal should live its last days based on its ability to have emotions/feelings? who are we to say that a dog should deserve proper treatment because it has feelings but a chicken, who cares! it doesnt understand emotion anyways so whats it matter. that to me seems just as evil. if youre gonna fight for the rights of animals that are treated inhumanely, then i think you should treat them equally. and with that, start the fight here at home, in the US where there are several animals that "dont have feelings" are kept inhumanely

Thats fine, thats a credible and intelligent argument. Everybody else is fixated on the fact that they are dogs / cats.

I believe that animals do have emotions and feelings. I think anybody who disagrees is an idiot.

In retort to your statement, I will agree that the intelligence of these animals IS of course different, however they are probably all delicious.

Some places eat dolphin to, a much smarter animal then all of those in question today.

Why do they eat them ? Well, they're probably tasty. No animal is sacred everywhere.

Thats exactly what I've been saying all day. People just don't understand this.

Domesticated animals are certainly different than farm, or game animals....Easy...

It shouldnt matter what a person is eating, its how these animals are being kept and the potential diseases that can be transfered between there country and ours.

If you want to know what we were designed to eat, look at our teeth versus the teeth of a meat eating animal, look at our intestines. Look at our Appendix... You know what it's thought to be for ?

Yep! Were omnivors! Our intestine is too short to be that of a herbivor, and too long to be that of a carnivor. Our dentition is that of omnivors too. We can eat anything, that is the beauty of it! :) Also means we can pretty much choose what to eat (course there are limits, stuff we can't digest or retreive sufficient nutrition etc..), and thus there is really nothing we are forced to use as staple food.

We are civilized beings, that have chosen to become different from animals and labelled ourselves as apart from animals. We can make concious decisions, and many laws that apply to animals we have decided could not apply to us, simply because we have somewhat stepped too far away out of the realm these laws apply to. Yeah were still animals to the core, but we are different and wish to remain different. We have learned to combat certain instincts (not all of it entirely) but many. Heck, even the most basic ones are now sometimes overrid by logic, emotions etc... think of couples who decide never to have children! This is by far beyond nature dictates... but that is the beauty of it all, we are no longer restrained by nature the way we used to. So I think the "we are animals so we are meant to eat animals, thus its okay to treat them cruel ways cause there is no other way to get our steak, its really natural bla bla bla" needs to be though over. We claim ourselves superior and different than animals, yet when it suits our claims we use "nature" to our defense. I think its time for our train of thought to evolve with the rest of us! :) We are no longer "animals" in a sens. Decisions, choices, changes, impacts, are all in the palm of our hands and we have the power to control nearly everything. We have long enough claimed to be HUMANS and NOT ANIMALS, well its time we stop clinging to our home-made excuses about why its ok to go against what our human morals and feelings tell us! :(
