Me too. There are so much peacock bass in Miami. I catch them all the time in my grandmothers back yard lake. She lives in Westchester. It's a small lake. It has red eared sliders too, most of which I've placed there.

Why did you place them there?
Do any of the other South Florida people on here know where I can catch black acaras easily?

Because I treat that lake as my private pond. My grandfather (RIP) used to bring in stray turtles that he found on the sides of the street in Hialeah where he worked. He used to put them there, so I do the same thing. The lake is real small and it has blue bass, blue fish (?), peacock bass, pleco or catfish (?), turtles, and I don't know what happened to the frogs/toads.

There is one turtle that my grandfather put there back like 15 years ago that I still see everytime I visit the lake. I know it's her because she has a dislocated jaw.

crawfish i caught got me back into the hobby and look at me now, also they all climbed out during thanksgiving.

Why didnt you? I think they are awesome fish.

I haven't kept native fish for a looooong time but when my brothers and I where young we kept all kinds. Perch, bass, trout, all kinds of minnows, walleye and many more. The neatest one we kept was a northern pike. These guys are like freshwater sharks when it comes to eating. We kept it since it was caught at about 9" (illegal catch, but we didn't know at the time) and then released when it got to be about 18" and too big for the tank. I can't remember what size tank but I do know it was way undersized but it lived and was released so I guess it was not too bad.

When i was 10 we caught a snapping turtle in a small pond about the sie of a quarter - we released it either a year or two later it was about 7" in diameter

Largemouth Bass, got it to over 5 pounds, until one morning I found it had crashed out of the tank and was lying on the floor .....still sucks to think about it........
