My girlfriend and I were at a nearby lake when I noticed some small fry swimming around. We had a cooler on us so I scooped a bunch of them up and brought them home. We want to raise them and see what they turn out to be. We have them in a 15 gallon tank with no heater since I caught them in colder water. However, I do have a filter running on the tank.

Have any of you guys ever done this and had success in raising them? I'm very curious as to what they might be. Do you have any recommendations on what to feed them? I am just taking freeze dried krill and bloodworms and crumbling them up very very tiny. Anything else I should do? Any suggestions will help!
Thanks.

No parents anywhere nearby. These things are tiny!! Nearly invisible!

oh... good luck with them. its kinda cool you dont know what they are yet.

feed them green water..

There are largemouth bass, crappie (white and black), several species of sunfish and bluegill, pickerel, perch, shad, and the list could probably go on. I want to rule out any sunfish and crappie because of their elongated shape. I could try and get pics tonight, but I don't think they would help.

What to feed them and how to care for them will depend on what species they are. Do you know what species are in the water source?
I would suggest feeding them live food if you can, collect some small inverts from the place you found them, things like daphnia and such. If you raise them try baby brine shrimp. The crushed up krill and brine might work.
