Wild caught fry...

We went back to the spot we got them from today, and there were bass and bluegill close by, but the bass seemed to be eating the fry. Thanks for the panty hose idea. Wouldn't they still get stuck to the panty hose?
 
They might but they have a better chance to survive. Also the bass could be rearing the fry into their mouths. IDK if that is how bass do it.

I hadn't thought of that. The bass there were only 6-8" long though, so would they be mature enough to spawn at that size? The bluegill were quite small also though.

We don;t have panty hose yet, but my girlfriend is going to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and get some. We set the filter on a lower setting in the mean time, so were just hoping for the best. I am really getting curious as to what these will become.
 
jsut figured i would give an update on the fry. they seem to be doing great. i put some panty hose over the filter and it seems to be working great. lost a few but nothing major. ill update w/ pics once they grow a bit more.
 
Have they grown at all? They should be quite a bit bigger already.

some have grown more than others. they are quite a bit bigger, but still not much to look at. they are def. starting to resemble LMB.

They don't do that, they don't even build their nests with their mouths. Though sunfishes and black basses are often compaired to cichlids they don't use their mouth for much of anything except eating and biting eatchother.
