If they were shad they would likely be dead by now, shad are very difficult to care for.
 
probably eating mosquito larvae and water fleas
 
Sunfish fry at that size have an elongated shape. I am going to put my money on bluegill fry.

I think they are too small to be eating mosquito larvae. Right now they are 1/4"-3/8" long. I'll take pics right now and try posting them but I think it is going to be very difficult. I too think if they were shad they would be dead right now.
