You sure? I thought silvers were mostly farm-bred which is why they're cheaper and more common than blacks.

As i know (people from arowana breeding farm told me), Silver aros are mostly from breed farm...and Black Aros are wild caught.MistirE;2253530;2253530 said:True....most arowana's like silvers and blacks are wild caught.....silvers will eventually develop droop eye unless it is in a pond....there are too many variations on why it happens....but its a fact....mine got it around 12 inches....still looks stunning to me....![]()
Well, I have a 9" one as well. As of right now, I am not sure if it will be good to put him with the 5" wild ones. He may kill themMistirE;2253655; said:I would recommend to put in an odd number....3 would likely work.....I know that 2 is usually a bad idea.....depending on tank size, but even an 8x3x3 might still be too small and cause territory disputes.....anyhow, good luck and congrats! I will be looking forward to see the pix.![]()
Please tell me I didnt see koi with your silvers!?!?! Do you have a heater in the tank? Smaller silvers do better with a heater. Koi are cold water fish and need cooler temps. I would recommend seperating them and throwing the koi in a pond. Also, might wanna keep an eye on the koi. Silvers that size can become a meal or lose their eyes to the koi.aznfab213;2257486; said:
Most of the ditributer here that I know in the US get them cheap cause they are wild......farm breed fish from asia cost more considring where they come from.....a much longer flight.David R;2256757; said:You sure? Well, it is illegal to export/import blacks that are wild caught.....so they are rare to see when they are young since they are still black.....so they slip them in with silvers and declaire them as silvers when in the US. I know of plenty of farm bred aro's....silvers as well....from places like thailand but only people who are on the west coast like Hawaii are close enough for it to be an option. South america is much closer and saves on shipping.VinLwj;2256891; said:As i know (people from arowana breeding farm told me), Silver aros are mostly from breed farm...and Black Aros are wild caught.
