The Peruvian Cichla are still a mystery to me. I have long disputed the information that C. ocellaris is known from Peru. Some have said that both C. ocellaris and C. monoculus are from there. I still don't know and I should just look it up to be honest.
Some Peruvian Cichla show outstanding orange and red coloration, whiles others are just awfully colorless, or mostly colorless. That's why I got them, they are a nice little mystery :)

Sounds like you have a great mystery bag on your hands. I'll be looking for updates on their growth.

I usually keep baby Cichla in a 10 or 15-gallon tank for a few months depending on how many I have. In this case, if all 12 make it, they will need to be moved in a month's time. Until then three water changes a day and lots of food :)
 
After two weeks they are starting to look like something :)
First photo is a small group of them with their new tankmates. Second photo is one of the larger ones.
