Wild population of Midas cichlids located in south Florida!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey Zero, i'd also be curious about those Amphilophus. In exchange I can also tell you where to find some Vieja, that is unless you already know.

Update.
A fellow member just came all the way here from Alabama to fish for Midas.
And caught NONE.
I'm not sure why, but the population has declined to the point that catching them is rare again.
I'm sorry to report that my Midas "spot" has dried up.

The spot is in Cutler bay. Miami Florida.
The junction of Black Creek and the Cutler/ Tamiami drainage canal.
Neighborhood of Bel Aire drive.
I don't know what happened. There were thousands.
And dozens of YOUTUBE videos of Midas being caught in that general area.

The member said he saw two.
But didn't get any hits.
I caught two on my first two attempts and left.

This is the physical address of the spot I found
In MONSTER Mike's video "catching goldfish" video....the one where a grenade is found...this is that spot.
This address is a Winn Dixie grocery store plaza.
Drive to the southernmost part of the parking lot. Then walk to the canal.
Unfortunately this spot is also a favorite of a few homeless folks who may or may not be present.
This is BLACK CREEK. They are numerous here. But most of black creek is bordered by private property except this spot.
Good luck!20190731_075745.jpg

I used to live in Florida for about 10 years. I have fished some canals like the OP ZEROPILOT ZEROPILOT described. I have caught Midas/Red Devils that were bright red, not orange, just pure, deep red. There is also many different American cichlids living in these canals like Mayan, Jaguar, Salvini, Peacock Bass and Oscars ect. I wasn't into fishkeeping at the time though, otherwise I would have kept a few.
