Wild snail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Worms, man. Little white strings, eggs, segments, or wigglers. And you might not be able to see some without a microscope, but they will usually either grow into larger forms later (that's why you should quarantine so long!) and then you'll see them. The crazy thing is that many meds that kill parasites also kill snails, so be very careful!

they are intermediate hosts, you likely won't see anythign with your naked eye that wouold be in their poop. You would need a microscope. best thing to do is qt seperate from fish for a month.
They are vivaparus. They are algae eaters. They can be difficult to supplement in a tank but you may be able to get them to eat blanched veggies or algae tabs.

Oh darn I forgot when I got the snails that im going on vacation for 4 days and im leaving on wed. whats worse is my filter that I was using for the container quite today so they are living in less than a gallon of water and when im gone I cant do water changes.:( Should I put them in my tank? Im afraid that they may transfer paracites to my fish. :( but i dont want them to die when I gone........... But I dont want my fish to get parasites... Should I put the snails in a breeder box submerged in the tank while im gone??? oh what should I do:confused:
On the good note the snails are happy and moving around they ate a algea wafer today ;)

putting them in a breeder box in the main tank won't protect your fish. They are slow breeders giving birth to single live young. I would go buy a new filter for your tank that you were qt'ing them in.
