I have to say my feelings on the subject have somewhat changed from what I posted when this thread came out. There were a lot of rumors going around about these fish, and there had been a lot of BS on MFK at the time. Maybe I was caught on an off day as well.
I think fishlaw1 is just breeding a nice looking aquarium strain of trimacs, the same way a lot of other popular members here have been breeding festae and umbee. Practically anyone breeding, if they have the luxury, is going to pick the nicest looking males and females (in their eyes) and hope these traits are passed on--whether it's color, large nuchal humps, etc. This is just taken a bit further than typical breeding projects (most people don't work with a group of fish long anyway).
So, anyway, without getting too far into the topic again, just wanted to clarify my feelings on the matter and apologize. After seeing some pictures lately of these "pyro" trimacs lately, they're a really nice looking fish. I like the breeder's dedication as well.
