will a 12" gar attack 8" tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree with all the others. The lowest temp I would go with florida gars would be 75 F. And like others have stated they like completely different environments.
Sterlet: Cold, fast moving water
Florida Gar: Warm, stagnant water.

1 have a 13" spotted gar and a 8-9"clown knife well they don't do much

the sterlets one finds in the aquarium trade are usually the little white sturgeon, which is Acipenser ruthenus.

(and they are in fact sterlets, not white sturgeon

what is the species of your sterlets as that is not a species but a common name applied to a group of acipenserid fishes?

I thought that was a bit contradicting as well...

Would that not be a little white Sturgeon?

they have White sturgeon and Sterlets as different species?

this is a common name confusion issue, that's why i included the scientific name in my original post. the white sturgeon is Acipenser transmontanus, and gets HUGE. the little white sturgeon is Acipenser ruthenus, and is the species you usually see at an LFS.--

ok by "little white sturgeon" i took that to mean Acipenser transmontanus.

that is not what i have, and thats what i was trying to say. i had one in the past, and so i knew that the 2 i now have ARE sterlets, not "White sturgeon".

i guess i will just go back to my doorknob humping
