i did not read the whole thread but pretty much when you kicked that canister back into action, it is like you pretty much shot liquid death into your tank.
;) read the whole thing it's fairly entertaining...
we gave him his solution from the jump, nobody gave him too much crap until we found out all was well...
he did need a few analogies along the way to get the real jest of what needed to be done and why...:popcorn:

Hahaha. YOu guys are all jerks. ^_^ Oh well, I should know better by now seeing as how I've been an aquarist (more or less) for 3+ years. Lol. So you guys really want pix of my tank?

Of course Bro, and we're not jerks, we are just picking on you, cause we can...By all means if you catch me slippin' on something, Let me have it good, that's the way we all learn and have a little fun along the way;):D
So let's see the tank already!!:popcorn::popcorn:

hey so just quick question how long exactly can filter go without being on, when i transfer my tank from my parents house to my new place i was planning on keeping the water in the canister to keep the bacteria alive so i wouldn't have to re-cycle the tank it should be off at most 8 hours would this be ok?

The thought of 8 hours frightens me...
Maybe you can get an inverter to invert 12vt DC to 110 AC and just hook the hoses to a 5 gallon bucket, and circulate the water keeping the BB oxygenated...
You know if my filtration went down for 8 hours, I would consider it NUKED and I would restart with cleaning everything and using STABILITY from SeaChem...to start over...

the other thing is what is the water supply like at the new place, 8 hours away?
you might want to start from scratch anyhow...
See what others would do...:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Hey Tay,
She de-crapped her thong after all, and the weekend isn't even over yet!!:naughty::naughty:

:ROFL::ROFL:

8 hours is quite a while btw. I would not be firing them back up that is for sure. Some people might feel differently however.
