Will I lose this battle? Another amusing girlfriend/wife thread.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All I can say it's a struggle. I get lectured every time the electricity bill pops up :) It would have been nice if the other half liked fish at least a little...

Complete understand. My wife has been pissed for some time about having two tanks in our room. She says she feels like she is living in a fish store. So I broke down my 40b that was under my 75g. How this makes more room I dont know but anyways. I am upgrading my kids goldfish tank to the 40b that I took down and putting the 20gallon away. This was acceptable to my wife. But she had the nerve to request we put a "chocolate" colored gold fish in the tank. I told her she hated my hobby she doesn't get to decided lol. I hate the brown gold fish but I will probably cave because I do love her.

Just throw some piranhas in there--she'll love that. :p

i been with my mrs for 15yrs and in that time no matter what animal she claims is hers or she buys or agrees to buy 100% it will become part of my routine and when she is bored or it dosn't work out it will come out as having been my idea to get it not hers. now i just talk her into stuff i wont so i end up looking after stuff i like rather than the half dead gilt buys she normally gets.

wife wanted a 75g, i says ok, she stocked it with what every she wanted, i says ok, I cleaned the tank, water changed the tank, fed the fish. what does she say down the line? well its really not my tank, I say you picked the fish, you did the decor, why is it not your tank. well i only did it to be part of your hobby. week later, her fish gone. tank cleaned up and sporting a nice JD male. sense then she does not mess with my fish or comment, I do not crochet? and she does not keep fish.
LOL

My wife is indifferent to my fish keeping obsession :)

Mine too. After thirty-three years she still does`nt know a cichlid from a barb, but she has never tried to stop me from adding a tank no matter how many I have. Her only concern is if I can keep up with them along with the business and the yard.

Any woman that will hold your "thing" while you do aquarium maintenance is worth keeping happy. By the way, props for being able to do aquarium maintenance while she's holding your "thing"! Before we got married, I set up a tank in my wife's apartment with a leopoldi stingray. I lugged buckets of water, equipment, and food twice a week to her apartment, and then worked on the tank for 2 hours while she watched tv. A year later we got married and I got to move the stingray into my tank. :>)

Get a chocolate colored goldfish put it in the tank then when she smiles and says thankyou throw a red belly piranha in haha jk

My wife doesn't mind my tank at all. This last time she agreed that if I take down all my tanks I could have one large one. Hence that's how I got my 125, she bought it for me for Christmas. She won't clean it or anything but will feed the fish and scoop out a dead one if needed. Sometimes I'll catch her chillin on the couch and just watching it. To be honest I like it better with just one tank, I can focus on it more.
