I have worked at two different animal shelters and have had people return animals for issues they knew about and had no problem with a month ago such as jumping. Or the dog they got YESTERDAY is to big or My all time favorite we are moving and can't keep are 6 year old (untrained pain in the *$$ or even worse their dear beloved ) dog, or the cat ect with them.
WTF are you moving voluntarily across town into a home that will not allow your so called beloved pet, and why on earth did you not try harder to find it a good home instead of dropping it off on your local overcrowded shelter at the last minute?
Or the most bonkers reson and i use that tearm loosly I redecorated and it no longer matches the furniture carpet ect.
or a lady bring her cat in in tears cause doc said to get rid of it she is preg except it is an indoor cat shes had for ten years and then won't believe me when I attempt to explain just have your husband change the litter or wear gloves but you can keep the cat you are not getting a new case of toxoplasmosis from an indoor cat you have had that long it will not happen and the risk of toxoplasmosis from OUTDOOR cats is why they used to tell preg women to get rid of cats.
Or a kid comes down with allergies and gets rid of the dog or cat and a month later finds out the allergies WERE NOT to the surrendered animal at all and want the animal back!as for lfs stories one local tried to tell me endli polpys only get 13" would be fine in a 75 with a sen and that AFRICAN brown knives must be kept singly good fish but bad advice I'll ask here bf buying there

I worked in a bank in the summers during university, and someone tried to pass off five $20 "counterfeit" bills that were photocopied on a colour printer - but on high-gloss paper! So ridiculous all I could think to say was "are you serious?". The guy started to reply, then turned and left without saying a word.

As for the LFS stories, as a customer I feel almost compelled to say something to the nice couple with the plastic nano tank in their hands looking at the tiger barbs, but I always like to wait to see if the employees say anything first. I'd say they only do about 50% of the time.

Those shelter stories are just sad... I couldn't work there. I would punch too many people.

Their have been times I want to hurt people after working there
I forgot one if for one reason or another we have to refuse to take their animal they seem to think threatening to DUMP it will help. unfortunately at one shelter we routinely had to run down the drive and catch the animal when they did just that now what we don't have room that is why it was refused ........
makes me wish we could neuter people some time these people should not be breeding this especially applied to the rednecks who are trying to pawn off their third litter of pups in a year cause they have two or three females they will not spay cause they have papers, but all the pups are mutts.

I have also decided to read the water test strips for myself if I let the lps check my water cause
a few employees are real good some, mean well and a few are completely clueless.such as they one who told me my pH was far to high to even add plants and my water was too hard. my pH test has read 7.6 since I started testing it for myself.not ideal but far from lethal to anything in the tank. I am glad I found second opinions so helpful and this forum has been a god send I am glad I found it before bringing my monsters home so are my knife and senegal

i was in my lfs a feew weeks ago talking to the guys that work there. while talking a lady aled up and asked about the american alligators.
c:are those real alligators
e:yes
c:do they still grow to 8 feet or do they just stay small
e:they will reach there maximum size
(this one just killed me)
c:do they still BITE
(and just to be a **** the employee says)
e:no ma'am, they are bred to not bite.

i had to walk to the other side and laugh, it brought tears to my eyes.

LMAO!

ive seen people try to buy some neon tetras and clownfish in the same tank FW nothing done with the water... no workers corrected them LMAO!!! and i had to step in before they checked out... i saved a few fish im a good person lol

lol go to petco and ask for 20 neon tetras in seprate bags

OMFG. ROFL. that's great. I wonder what they'd say??

My favorite pass time while out running errands is to stop into walmart, petsmart, etc and :swear: about the moldy-headed bettas. I can't stand walking past and seeing half of 'em moldy, and a quarter dead, and the rest distinctly unhappy. I wouldn't be surprised to stop in walmart and see one with all of the water evaporated.... (i don't buy anything, just waste employee's time :swear:ing about the fish care.)

O and i found 5 bettas in a tank at wal mart with neon tetras. they were being slaughtered. =( i emptyed a tank of king tetras and put the bettas in that tank. the king tetras and the neons were fine together. IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and nobody saw me do it:FIREdevilhehehe...
