yeah customers do not understand that as a store, we are in the business to make money. the purpose of wholesalers are so that stores can buy fish cheaper then the public, and then sell said fish to the public for a profit. this way we dont have to buy fish from the public. we are doing you a favor by taking your fish and offering you any credit for it. Def one of the most annoying parts of working at a lfs, umm how much will you guys give me for my 18'' pacu? none sir, we dont want the fish.

A point missed by many customers. We don't want your fish, we take them as a service to you. If you want a fair retail price, sell it on Craigslist or something.
 
yeah i always love when after quoting them on a credit slip we can give for their fish if they say, oh nevermind I can sell it on craiglist.... BY ALL MEANS! go for it! makes my life easier.

But the best by far is when people bring in whole setups to the store, that they bought of craigslist really cheap, asking me to fix their filter, or asking whats wrong and why something wont work.. I just love that

That's one of the most terrible things I've heard yet.


Today at the LFS this guy kept telling me how awesome it was that his oscars ate hot dogs, or "anything else he put in the tank". He then looked at a tank full of Jack Dempseys and asks "Wow are those bass"?! I had to walk away after that.
 
Hah get this i worked at a fish store when i was in highschool and this lady actually asked me if she needed to give her fish a water bowl... wtf

oh one time i overheard a person ask if a certain fish (points to them) are saltwater, i said, ma'm those are goldfish....
she said, "ueah..... well are they?"
 
i've done that, lol cherry shrimp.

but this guy also cam intot he store whehn it wws really busy and just grabbed some live plants
