Will it never end? More lame customer moves.

I was really mad about a customer last week at the LFS I work at. He came in asking if we carried Piranhas. I said yes we have 1" RBP's. He asked if we had anything more aggressive than piranha's. I told him about some of the aggressive cichlids that we have. He says what makes them aggressive? I tell him that they are less skiddish and more persistantly mean basically. He asked if they have big teeth. No. Well I'll take some piranha's. So fine, if that's what gets you there I won't argue. He gets two. I ask how big his tank is, he tells me 10g. I inform him that they will get at least 6" in the first year. That's fine, he says, I have another tank that isn't set up. Who am I to argue that, so I go ahead a bag them and ring them up. Before he leaves I let him know that they are eating bloodworms, flakes, and feeder minnows right now. He says "that's ok, I'm going to feed them bugs"...

WHAT!? Bugs... I said like what?

Ladybugs, they're all over my house. (these japanese beetle things are everywhere, they're invasive.)

I said, they won't eat those.

He says, yes the will.
Then leaves.

WTF? I was so mad. I won't even tell you how he was dressed, or how his hygene was. I mean just because he can't take care of himself doesn't mean he can't care for $10 fish, right? This garbage happens all the time.

Another customer called the other day, he really wanted a pet rat, ok great. But I only have X amount of money, so he'll skimp of some of the supplies so he can get him right away. Why bother providing a proper home, He didn't have money to take care of a pet, but he'll run out and buy one then make it suffer.

That's when I think there should be permits or a training course or something. I don't even want to get into how a lot of people are when the come in looking for a pet turtle... ARRGGG

Ironically there's no required permits or training course for having kids either.

Ladybugs? They're not a nuisance. All they do is eat bad bugs. Heck, they even sell them at garden supply stores around here.

A friend of mine had a Jack dempsey. It sure liked bugs, even grasshoppers....

They're not really ladybugs, they just look like them. The story is that some guy brought them into the state to eat bugs that were in his apple orchard now there's billions of them. They're everywhere and get into houses by the thousands, they bite too.

I saw some lady buying 2 betta fish...1 bowl. 2 kids, I guess they both need their own. I hope she wasn't actually going to put them both in it, but its possible she was an idiot. Too late now...she's probably learned her lesson.

This always baffled me working at a pet store, people are so odd.

Resurrecting old classics.

Puscoptopus = plecostomus

Customer: "I have an algae."
Me: "Congratulations. I have lots."

Me: "Here's how to take care of a betta...."
Customer: "That sounds like too much work. Don't you guys sell puppies?"
