i dont think this law will pass. it dosent make sense most tropical fish dont even live in most of our climates or temps in north america.
if it does many ppl would probly still be able to get these animals through the black market with a huge demand....then release them because they cant sell them with out risk

no-way it will pass!! if it dose??!! i am moving out...:D

If it passes, i'm moving in with some of my friends from Canada

I'm not in the us but honestly guys do you honestly think they will stop something that will shut down an entire industry? Especially at a time like this.

This would affect the hobby in other countries as well. The US is a large market, if the market was outlawed then International companies (hardware) wouldn't be able to sell their products here. Hence they'd make less product, so they would be buying less raw materials, so they'd be getting less of a volume discount and the price would go up. I imagine it could cause layoffs at these companies too, depending on the volume of their sales in the US. If the US makes up a large portion of their sales it could put them out of business. That would make less products to chose from and potentailly less R&D in the hobby. Not to mention a helleva lot of pissed off Americans.

They would. I hope they don't, but I don't think that they care what/when/how they pass any bills.

If this were to pass it would do more harm than good. It might prevent some invasive species problems, but not enough to be effective and to be worth the economic damage it will cause.

Just one example that comes to mind is the Emerald Ash Borer - the beetle that's been killing ash trees by the tens of millions in the midwestern states and is continuing to spread. The theory is that the beetle first came to the US on wooden crates and packing materials that arrived in Michigan from Asia. A bill like this does nothing to stop that from happening.

If it were to pass, we'd still have invasive species problems, and we always will have them.
