i'll start off by saying i'm very stubborn. ok i'm very very stuborn. Most of the people i work with could be my grandparents!! they've got thirty years on me eailsy. at lunch i over heard some old guys arguing about who's garden produces the best crop (tomatoes, peppers, squash, and cucumbers...). i like to instigate a little, ok alot, i told them my garden which i don't even have yet could produce waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy better crop then theirs could. so i got into bet with them and well bring our first yeild to work and let some people taste and look at and see who's is the "BEST"
1. I know how to raise plants (not hard)
2. i've got pretty decent soil (i can work with it a little fert here and there.)
3. got some fish that dirty my water pretty fast.
The Idea:
i want to plumb a watering system that goes from outside my bedroom window to the garden area, and use the water from my 210gal as a natural fertilizer.

Questions:
1. has anyone ever done this before?
2. will it work as well as i think it will?

please tell me i'm not going to make a *** of myself!!:D

pretty please..

Its fun to exaggerate the truth sometimes, but lying about a garden you dont even have? sorry to say but you've already made an ass of yourself. Not to your co-workers, but atleast here on mfk.

Sure it would work.
My lawn is pretty green where I empty my 240 gallon during water changes.

Story is Neoprodigy's back yard is lush green in the summer because of his overflow from his drip system.. so it may work.

You're gonna look really stupid if you don't produce something good though.. lol

Well, I hope this was a lesson learned, that being said, using water from water changes does help.

You gotta love Amsterdam.

I think mixing fertilizers to get the best for each plant works the best. Feeding hard water and fertilizer, with a high PH to a tomato is going is going to make for one poor tomato. Sure it will grow but the old timers that actually garden will have won the bet.

they will win the bet anyway, they already have established gardens if they are like me
they not only use compost and cow or chicken manure along with commercial ferts. fish water is great on indoor plants and flower beds but does nothing for large gardens

hey here is an idea at the right time just go to your local farmers market and buy a tomato cucumber maybe a few beans and keep your story going heck you may even buy one of their produce
