However, above you still say that your statement is not incorrect then go on to say how much oxygen transfer happens, a from the surface agitation of an airstone AND b from the contact transfer of the bubbles themselves from an airstone, proving your statement to have been incorrect.
I do concede that oxygen transfer happens between air and water and increasing that ratio of air touching water will increase oxygen transfer.
But since we all now agree.
Airstones do add oxygen to water.
