Will my tank fall thru the floor?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The thread title is a bit of a hyperbole, but I think everyone gets the point. And since everyone's situation is different I figured it would be better to start my own thread than hijack one started by someone else.

I honestly don't believe your question can be answered positively without having an inspector out to look at it....With that said, it would be cheaper to reinforce the heck out of it and feel safe at the same time.

Yeah, my sister has a friend who works in construction and I'm gonna try and get him to look at it. Vertically reinforcing the joists is probably gonna be necessary at least for peace of mind. Is a floor jack stronger than an acro or are they pretty much the same? Is a wood 4x4 adequate? I imagine it would be much cheaper.

Put a 4x4 post between the joist and the floor. It looks like it would fit perfectly between the freezer/fridge and the shelving unit....DONE!

basing my answer on the number of "will my floor hold" divided by how many "help, my tank just fell through my floor" threads there are my spontanious answer is.. yes, your floor will hold!

Help, my tank just fell through my floor

^ pretty sure the tank just cracked and the water went through the floor.....not the whole tank

That's wat I'm sain

I wouldn't put it their without the assistance of a Jack Post. The Jack Post could be put right next to that freezer. I wouldn't go with the 4x4 because they flex / bow. Then again. I'm also a Member of 411OVERKILL.com

I'm gonna go to a couple hardware stores tomorrow and see what's available. Hopefully they have the jacks.
