exactly the test is to make sure there isnt any in it. I'm not stupid i wouldnt fill my tank with chlorinated water

look man ill say it again im not trying to be hard on you but you really need to do more research and learn more, really you should already know if your tap water has chlorine in it you shouldnt have to test it all the time to know it has chlorine in it. chlorine dosnt just develop in a tank, you have to put it there for it to be there, so what you said above makes no sense.

I already apologized dude get off my back

overstocking in itself will not cause growth stunting. But not properly maintaining your overstocked tank, will.
Growth stunting is caused by an excess of GH hormones in the water. The more fish you have, the more concentrated the levels of this hormone. You will need to keep up with frequent WC and cleaning to combat this.

That's what I was going to say. If you over stock your tank with young fish and don't keep up with WC the growth hormon in the water will cause the fish to become stunted.

When you grow out day old fry the more WC they get the faster and larger they get. It's so true I have seen it first hand with my Cory fry. My first batch I was so on top on my wc they grow really fast. Second batch I was a bit more lazy and Well they did not grow as fast.

malnutrition can be a factor in stunted growth

I have had examples such as an oscar i had when i was 9 my friend also got 2 while he was with me they were all about the same size but my friend had a 50 gallon and i had a 20, my water quality was always good but i noticed after about a year his fish were noticably larger then mine was
Scientificly you are wrong.

even if it was a 5gallon tank versus a 20000gallong the growth would remain exactly the same if the water parameters are both spot on. if the water quality is better in the 5gallon, it will grow faster and larger in the 5gallon.

everybody seems to think poor water stunts fish - what's the evidence?

not saying it wouldn't....just curious.

the right food and keeping the growth hormon down or out of the water will keep your fish growing strong and fast. You can have poor water quality as long as the growth hormon is low in the water the fish will still grow it's not ammonia of nitraites that stunt the growth so much. But ammonia and nitrites cause stress and we all know stress can effect the body in many ways. But in order to keep the hormon levels down you need to do more wc and more wc means better water quality.

The batch of Cory fry were I did daily large water changes some times twice a day these fish grow faster and larger then the second batch where I had more fry and was not as good with wc. At 3 weeks the second batch was smaller the my first batch at 3 weeks. These fry were all from the same parents and both fed first bites and brine shrimp.

Yes I agree the right diet also plays a big part is growth for dogs, babies and yes fish.

I got 2 blue acara at 1" the male was lower on the peckig order did not always get as much food and was stressed out by his mate. I did the same weekly 50% wc for both fish. My male is a inch smaller then the female and is not growing nearly as fast as the other fish. He could be a runt but he could have been stunted due to stress and not enough food. I feed a mix dry krill, cichlid pellets, and plant based flakes.
