Apart and then together again...peace and harmony and then lip locking again..then peace and harmony again..then separate them again... then try again:eek:Is this male and female reactions or is this two males or two females... how should their behavior be if trying to breed.. and one won't .. lucky for me the worst that comes out of this is sore lips.. they both evenly show aggression so theres no one being over taken and submissive... both wild Oscars stand up to each other equally...

Don't know if they'll ever settle down Liz but nice pics and good luck with them.

Thank you... they are acting like they enjoy it..

oscars enjoy a good rumble LOL

the funny thing, the only time my oscars have ever fought was when I had them with members of the opposite sex.

I'm thinking they are two females. Don't forget that oscars are monogamous (although I have seen them dump one and shack up with a new one but it is always one girlfriend at a time).

Nice looking fish though.

i quess they do enjoy a good rumble...they do not seem stressed from it...still eat hardy but it must take its toll on them..

now that i think about it...they probably are two females and this will go on and on and on...

I never get tired of seeing these O's, nice wild O's. So it's mostly lip-locking without a lot of nipping/biting/damage? Yeah they might be 2 females. I'd almost think you had a pair but I'd have thought you'd see some more courting behavior in time.

I had a pair of O's once. They spawned a couple times. The one thing I noticed about their behavior, was that they would 'test' each other before each spawn. I learned that I could predict a spawn based on this behavior. So, I would deduce that, based on the behavior you have observed in your O's, they have not formed an actual pair and are very likely the same sex. I would think that if they were going to spawn, they would have done it by now. Beautiful oscars though, Liz!
