he had them in a 90 gallon. then the 90 broke and he got some stupid corner tank after i told him he's gonna have problems because the fish won't have enough territory. he didn't listen and this is what happened in addition to a dead jag.

kill your friend please :hitting:

how many fish did have in the 90 gal?, by the sounds of the dovii, rd, and the jag, he should be useing 240+ gallons, inexperenced fish keeping at it's best i guess.

:iagree:
dovii,rd,jag, and some other cichlid. since he got the corner tank the dovii and rd is all the lived

can i use meds when there are healthy tankmates?

You took that fish, and put it in a tank with tankmates... What's stopping those tankmates from injuring that poor fish even more?

For the sake of the fish, medicate it - Like I said earlier, it won't get better on its own. It's your own responsibility to get the fish better.

To answer your question, it shouldn't even have tankmates in that condition - can't believe it.... but yes, do medicate.

i'm more worried about the dovii getting better and killin the tankmates. she in there with 3" pbass and a lima shovelnose. but if it'll make you feel better i got an empty 30 gal that i can put her in.

What is it about people in NJ that makes them want to fight fish? I've noticed a ton of people from that area talking about cichlid vs. cichlid. And that one site, which shall remain nameless, that's about fish fighting each other is run by and full of people from NJ. Is this some sort of HS fad going on or something?:screwy:

Good on you for trying to heal the Dovii.

This is a great example of why I don't like it when people say two fish can live together just fine because they've had a "7 inch (insert CA cichlid) and 8 inch (insert CA cichlid)" live together without problems. There's a huge difference between a juvie and a mature cichlid and with the damage these guys can do, it doesn't take long to end up with a dead fish.

Ok, Im off my soapbox. :)

if you can pm me the name of the site, i'm in an argumentive mood right now

The fact that the fish has lived for two days is a good sign. Give the fish it's own tank, medicate, use heat, salt and hope for the best.

I don't like your chances though.
