im not 100% sure but i think it will grow back just like his tail grows back.what size is your gar?

what size tank do u have him? do u have any other fish with your gar

he's not in the ideal tank atm, only picked him up yest. atm its a 4'x2'x2' with mixed cichlids , 9" blk aro, dats, plecs, ext... but this is only for a wk, then he gets my 5x2.5x2... as for the tankmats he is doin really well surprisingly, he has not attacked anyone, and only my OB has got territorial with him, swiftly droped the ob in wid pbass for 20hrs and hes good as gold again.. will deff keep a close eye on them for the next seven days then as i say its relocation time!

thats cool good luck with your gar.

beautiful gar :). add him to a QTANK, add meds and salt turn up the heat a lil to about 84*

I'm sorry to say but I don't think any of it will ever grow back and look normal. My friend had a gar that got fin rot. It rotted all the way to the root and now thats whats left.

dude, the rear is gona grow back im like 95% confident on that... sorry but lots of people who most simply dont have the relivant knowledge to anwser peoples questions and its so frustrating, if you dont know, dont post! and sorry but just cos ur friends didnt grow back anit necessary the norm, he might have done sumint wrong or not done sumint....

DrZacharyus: i'm on it.... thanks for the advise!

probably going to grow back, because it looks like they were ripped/chewed off. Getting you fins chewed is like getting hair yanked out: it grows back. Fin rot is usually like losing your hair:say goodbye. Goodluck with him. Let him chill somewhere where there will be no fights or stress, and he should improve within the month. Post some pics when he does
